Not far, just up the road a bit but moving is moving no matter how far.<br />
<br />
We are just no interested in dealing with this house nor the landlady for yet another year. Cheers to our new homestead. I just hope we can get packed and out of this place by the 30th. Everything as far as school and church will stay the same.<br />
<br />
We are waiting to hear about where A's work will take him next before we settle down. We won't hear about that until March of next year. Until then we didn't see the point in changing too many things if we could help it. Here's to moving every year for 4 years. Whoo hoo! Bring it on!<br />
<br />
I know one thing, the Lord certainly wants us to stay in the ward. We had looked at 3 houses, last on the list was the only house we found in the ward. The other two has something wrong with them or someone else snatched it up before us. Blessings can be disguised in many different ways.Arid-zona Momhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09036099468588245305noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8236906284497520102.post-13430841491527292052011-04-23T17:54:00.000-07:002011-06-21T17:58:27.291-07:00It's a Girl!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

Well, sort of anywayOver spring break this year we went camping over in the Superstition Mountain area. It was still relatively cool for Phoenix, and not being prepared for anything colder than about 50 degrees, we opted to stay around Roosevelt Lake. The elevation is only a few hundred feet above Mesa but we still managed to freeze at night!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkyKznkK3n2rqqKl1R3NRTX8-cWobZJaQI2NQ7L5tw3usgcLPyopwm2tdKKq02_rmXcmw1GE52E9RxuGbPRzjRZde48uZpK5GtsYSBPqB51XDwdoBlOUMO4vfix5WjqzWg03PEeXDiRGue/s1600/roosevelt-lake-area-map-400.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkyKznkK3n2rqqKl1R3NRTX8-cWobZJaQI2NQ7L5tw3usgcLPyopwm2tdKKq02_rmXcmw1GE52E9RxuGbPRzjRZde48uZpK5GtsYSBPqB51XDwdoBlOUMO4vfix5WjqzWg03PEeXDiRGue/s400/roosevelt-lake-area-map-400.gif" width="382" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The girls haven't seen that much water here in AZ, go figure, so they were excited to see a lake. The only downside to all this is we forgot to pack swimsuits! We made the best of it and played in a river/stream at the North end of the lake down a road called A Plus. The girls had a blast. The truck even made it through the water to enjoy a bit of off road driving.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

Kaylin seems to have a fascination with pine cones. She wanted to pick out tons of them to take home everywhere we went.<br />

<br />
We stayed for 2 nights in Cholla Recreation site. It was very different from the forest camping I'm used to. Dirt everywhere, no trees, cacti, flat, hot, interesting to say the least. Not too bad though going in the spring. And just about 30 minutes up the road you climb a few thousand feet and get to the trees and camping that I grew up on. Our next visit will be to Rose Creek Campground. We went up to check it out and the girls seems to like the area in the few minutes we were there. It was cold enough that Kaylin needed her coat!<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
Here's a view of Roosevelt Lake from the North East side of the lake. The only roads on this side are dirt and most of the way, 4X4 required. We saw two ranches along the road tucked away in small valley's in between the mountains. They were very nice indeed, but I think I require more trees!<br />
<br />

Here the we and the girls are on our way to see some cliff dwellings and there happened to be a little niche in the side of the mountain. They both just had to have their pictures taken.<br />

We were lucky the weekend we came over. It was the 100th anniversary of the Roosevelt Dam, and the 10th anniversary of the bigger, stronger dam that was build in it's place. Because of 9-11 no one has been able to walk on the new Dam. March 19th the public received the opportunity to walk across the dam as part of the the Roosevelt Centennial Celebration.<br />

It's survived the many tortures we've put it through and was willing to take more of what we dished out. It's been to Houston, Seattle, Denver and a few places far between. But, with capacity for only two car seats in the back seat, it was time to say goodbye.<div><br />
</div><div>After months of turmoil and the occasional spousal fight we (and to be truthful it was more of Adam trying to convince me) decided on a used Suburban. It'll get us comfortably to any destination we'd like to go and we will still have room for the friends. Without further delay here's a picture of the newest addition to the family.</div><div><br />

It was a free try-it class to entice you to sign up for more classes. After the class we got to take home the recipe they made...Cheesy Breadsticks!<br />
<br />
So we made them at home. Or I should say Iolana made them. I helped her get out all the items we needed, but I let her measure, pour stir, kneed (i did help a little with this and rolling), rolling, cutting, the egg wash, cheese and herbs. She really enjoyed it, and probably liked the food that much more. Below are the pictures of her labors.<br />

So, if you feel inclined to know more about what we did last year I suggest to browse through. I'm almost finish but I have a few more posts to go until all the pictures I have for 2009 (at least the good ones) are posted.Arid-zona Momhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09036099468588245305noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8236906284497520102.post-12518164915306304402010-02-03T20:25:00.000-08:002010-02-03T20:25:08.941-08:00Good Blogging SoftwareFor the past month or two I've been contemplating over blogging software, something that would give me more control over the format of my posts. I have a mac and have found quite a few different programs that could be of some use. I had also looked in to using Wordpress instead of blogger, but Wordpress doesn't allow videos. But really, how many videos do I really post anyway? The video's that I do post can be on my facebook page perhaps...hmmm.<br />
<br />
As you can see I'm still contemplating. I may switch over to wordpress, or if I find a program that I like for blogger, perhaps I'll stick with it. If you have any suggestions let me know.Arid-zona Momhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09036099468588245305noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8236906284497520102.post-14529893493371230892009-11-14T22:00:00.000-08:002010-07-24T22:57:15.468-07:00Family Portraits<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">It's been a long time since we've had family portraits done. It looks neat during the day, I just need to get some glow in the dark paint or some luminescent paint so it'll glow under a black light at night. It's hard to see at night and I was afraid that people would walk right into it. Perhaps next year I'll add some dry ice to make it a bit scarier.</span></div></span><br />

I was on my own this particular weekend while Adam was sweating away down in Phoenix. I had heard that one of the farms had a corn maze which I've been wanting to experience for myself. This farm however wasn't the one, I was out of luck. Kaylin decided she was going to be Dora. I'm a bit disappointed I didn't get pictures of their costumes. I bought a plain purple backpack and drew Backpack's face on it. They had a great time at the trunk or treat the church sponsored, though we didn't bring nearly as much candy as we should have. We took a few blocks around our neighborhood as well. We strategically skipped over certain houses because of the scary lights and decorations.</span></span></div></div>Arid-zona Momhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09036099468588245305noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8236906284497520102.post-50256929042003706982009-09-07T17:41:00.001-07:002010-01-25T20:46:37.272-08:00Plants Day 15<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKT0C-c520Qtq3GTaRqae4IDQixilDBPl8dLUcGjPlbCNsw413hy7acH2zY7qtwFGe1i79R_xw_8aDZ-s86dSJQCL0Zo2rWZSxpcvukxkpT2GAKMOoXHykgE4rFzmpARqOrcaHI8xs_qaq/s1600-h/IMG_0869.JPG" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="" border="0" height="480" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5378890500898469906" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKT0C-c520Qtq3GTaRqae4IDQixilDBPl8dLUcGjPlbCNsw413hy7acH2zY7qtwFGe1i79R_xw_8aDZ-s86dSJQCL0Zo2rWZSxpcvukxkpT2GAKMOoXHykgE4rFzmpARqOrcaHI8xs_qaq/s640/IMG_0869.JPG" style="float: right; height: 240px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt; width: 320px;" width="640" /></a><br />

Here are pictures from a few of those trips. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhznVvCuLAujdaRaiwBc3wqXVHFF2adS8Vp5Dab685sn-8BHl13zgsJdgF66AX5QeRxrTADuyMmkRGNVQU0ZXw7N8RcP_yJDwbFWKYrUyZffFDSeJ77yGe1fRqYSTbFFEOfSi4XqhxO6qvn/s1600-h/IMG_0923.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhznVvCuLAujdaRaiwBc3wqXVHFF2adS8Vp5Dab685sn-8BHl13zgsJdgF66AX5QeRxrTADuyMmkRGNVQU0ZXw7N8RcP_yJDwbFWKYrUyZffFDSeJ77yGe1fRqYSTbFFEOfSi4XqhxO6qvn/s640/IMG_0923.JPG" width="480" /></a></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><br />
<div style="text-align: left;">On a separate trip Adam and I got to the top and then we went a little bit further. The very top of the Butte has no trail, it's all rock. Very popular for rock climbers. We didn't have gear but I wanted to climb up as far as we could thinking we could make it to the top. Adam humored me and followed along. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />

If I didn't have the kids and a family I probably would have tried to get further, but I have more than myself to think about now. It was still fun to do.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

She starting kindergarden in yet a new school. Arizona has a nice set up though. You can take your child to any school you want, however, if they may not have bus service if you don't live local to the school. We found a nice charter Montessori school and hope that the girls like it. It seems like the past five years have just flown by. And I was lucky enough to have been able to spend her last year of no school at home with her. Yes, there were difficult times but there many more fun times to remember. How I love her and all her ways. May this first year in school be a good one that will have her wanting to come back for more!Arid-zona Momhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09036099468588245305noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8236906284497520102.post-78759007923866970862009-08-06T11:06:00.001-07:002009-08-06T11:15:50.812-07:00Kids and Plants<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzlfAM5bgLlo9uv6AJKWDw1S21F_ONove_IVPHttDQSJ2OSC_5Qb0Ebx2nR32kFRUBEkjmeCnWwOxk7xmqCjY3pZD3qxHsZisuE8F5_JQCEwU-ZUUwrXU-wwUePJ59QF-4rqreE94wN9Ab/s1600-h/IMG_0855.JPG"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzlfAM5bgLlo9uv6AJKWDw1S21F_ONove_IVPHttDQSJ2OSC_5Qb0Ebx2nR32kFRUBEkjmeCnWwOxk7xmqCjY3pZD3qxHsZisuE8F5_JQCEwU-ZUUwrXU-wwUePJ59QF-4rqreE94wN9Ab/s320/IMG_0855.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5366914718097866962" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTQ5GQu_QZs8AjynFSUNBzohKOA6pQnzxbBsz7c1bdxUU-8LPMYONw0ZugNtxj4vhFAy0M-b2tmuKIFeGpPVdpHd3X1Y5OuSZQup-uzxL3AjIdjX4tw5Z46CxnehdbQrQYPmQdo9SVDg4_/s1600-h/IMG_0848.JPG"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTQ5GQu_QZs8AjynFSUNBzohKOA6pQnzxbBsz7c1bdxUU-8LPMYONw0ZugNtxj4vhFAy0M-b2tmuKIFeGpPVdpHd3X1Y5OuSZQup-uzxL3AjIdjX4tw5Z46CxnehdbQrQYPmQdo9SVDg4_/s320/IMG_0848.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5366914048347865058" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRpCoU-FVfuKpIPMF0H5o7KgCyCSxxCqJfIE91J3_ISv0b4PA7ZeYbsnEJH_0XZya181Z5VanJXV-K4V5zqh9SZKJgRnDqEauPQcptjq2qqCsiSmDsrSeac6YJOXEidiAQA1JOaMV1laa8/s1600-h/IMG_0846.JPG"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRpCoU-FVfuKpIPMF0H5o7KgCyCSxxCqJfIE91J3_ISv0b4PA7ZeYbsnEJH_0XZya181Z5VanJXV-K4V5zqh9SZKJgRnDqEauPQcptjq2qqCsiSmDsrSeac6YJOXEidiAQA1JOaMV1laa8/s320/IMG_0846.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5366914040352237426" border="0" /></a><span style="font-family: arial;">The kids brought home some seed packets from school and so we decided to plant them. We had propped K's mattress up against the futon while Dad was installing the new wooden supports. K and I decided it would be fun to use the mattress as a slide and were having a good time doing so. Well, the inevitable happened and K's head met with the tile. Here are some pictures about 5 minutes after it happened. Happy to say that she's doing just fine now and the bruise is almost gone!</span><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxIAytvxaQPZMwNp6kA0Awbt52ebVXZlh8DIuejSGKLWXVrOwZp7w5yhtwfjy8hjvXIdjYe_HkdFwi4JCQJ2ALDQK8593U-Rxdn06kiYDWcjyyWsvl62toTBz-3Wa05fLOHdUVEcAlSzf6/s1600-h/IMG_0840.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxIAytvxaQPZMwNp6kA0Awbt52ebVXZlh8DIuejSGKLWXVrOwZp7w5yhtwfjy8hjvXIdjYe_HkdFwi4JCQJ2ALDQK8593U-Rxdn06kiYDWcjyyWsvl62toTBz-3Wa05fLOHdUVEcAlSzf6/s320/IMG_0840.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5366160218616495442" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7AFw_9dvahnc7dqqjvU0aI3aRe53Ktf7GGXh-rOGWXlp6sImd4z0HIJbpRTpfmjJloLQ_iPVBvUzCTMJ624X6wyaCjha3-HeVRzxcgCHs9gMrS7c5TYWlgXPb7YdYrMAjYHPSjKoumy8F/s1600-h/IMG_0842.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7AFw_9dvahnc7dqqjvU0aI3aRe53Ktf7GGXh-rOGWXlp6sImd4z0HIJbpRTpfmjJloLQ_iPVBvUzCTMJ624X6wyaCjha3-HeVRzxcgCHs9gMrS7c5TYWlgXPb7YdYrMAjYHPSjKoumy8F/s320/IMG_0842.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5366160213134673234" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirJKwzr0-gvCiJ7ET0GlrTlfMzvuN5z4W6B-EK219G1wH5-nn9hvjQjAq0khfKsbel__stbLNmEpm1OqjfbjHqGeOr1rzOhvzIA66Hj-pOKZ5VyDDCH9mZHRJnjkhJU3fyVGXsPfxH4G3R/s1600-h/IMG_0845.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirJKwzr0-gvCiJ7ET0GlrTlfMzvuN5z4W6B-EK219G1wH5-nn9hvjQjAq0khfKsbel__stbLNmEpm1OqjfbjHqGeOr1rzOhvzIA66Hj-pOKZ5VyDDCH9mZHRJnjkhJU3fyVGXsPfxH4G3R/s320/IMG_0845.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5366160210396393730" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBejW6smJa-GQgq_svWMNrDo92dhB1LUb0D3YGiSxoT9f5b83LfjE64wPTC-bzX9clKiOtc-SapNF950gdXiN10WQTBHxW3WbSO283A9DCRiw3b_iUHQLJ_BvEqKefSnOJWnmuVvB1O2TU/s1600-h/IMG_0838.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBejW6smJa-GQgq_svWMNrDo92dhB1LUb0D3YGiSxoT9f5b83LfjE64wPTC-bzX9clKiOtc-SapNF950gdXiN10WQTBHxW3WbSO283A9DCRiw3b_iUHQLJ_BvEqKefSnOJWnmuVvB1O2TU/s320/IMG_0838.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5366160202665404450" border="0" /></a>Arid-zona Momhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09036099468588245305noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8236906284497520102.post-52266317132406388302009-08-03T11:43:00.000-07:002009-08-03T20:32:19.241-07:00A Sun what?<span style=";font-family:arial;font-size:100%;">So last night I went out into the garage to put my things in the car; to avoid the mad rush that usually occurs in the morning. While I'm out there I notice this guy scurrying around. My first reaction is oh great we've got scorpions. But on further investigation it does not seem to be a scorpion, its "arms" are sticky and there is no stinger.</span><br /><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:arial;"><br /></span><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiavmOBuBMWvGV0O1nFZlSKG-t9BpQHa3nvQd2yVW7b9lkeLqxO7_hVs7yO50bmCFp4bs7rHqSajkQeWkOYR0WqyBRZrVWljKN0Hg2EX10T8mMWlLgtG2V3_ZAJzDE7uQ9pBPGeyajk9cvO/s1600-h/IMG_0853.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiavmOBuBMWvGV0O1nFZlSKG-t9BpQHa3nvQd2yVW7b9lkeLqxO7_hVs7yO50bmCFp4bs7rHqSajkQeWkOYR0WqyBRZrVWljKN0Hg2EX10T8mMWlLgtG2V3_ZAJzDE7uQ9pBPGeyajk9cvO/s320/IMG_0853.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5365812314366805010" border="0" /></a><br /><span style=";font-family:arial;font-size:100%;">Not knowing what it was I caught it and Googled it to learn more. I find that this is a Sun Spider, or Wind Scorpion. It doesn't have poison of any sort, it grabs its prey and holds on with the stick arms. They eat the insects, lizards and other bugs and usually only come out at night (not sure where the sun spider name came from). So I decided to let it go, but no goodness, the looks of the thing don't say to me "harmless". As a precaution I sprayed around the entrances to the house, I sure don't want to meet one of these on my way to bed at night.</span><br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4MyIw6cAX780GDMrONBNPuchPRfF-5-6ch0qBlUesqGPLrj6UDbaa8P97SClMeQKsvPFMgH9JH7CRV3j6xMW01ozJhFN7u51osX0u81wDs7_wZ0TGrh2pYfjlIN9UXsF_Tv3CblbKhZhD/s1600-h/IMG_0852.JPG"></a><div><br /></div><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4MyIw6cAX780GDMrONBNPuchPRfF-5-6ch0qBlUesqGPLrj6UDbaa8P97SClMeQKsvPFMgH9JH7CRV3j6xMW01ozJhFN7u51osX0u81wDs7_wZ0TGrh2pYfjlIN9UXsF_Tv3CblbKhZhD/s1600-h/IMG_0852.JPG" style="text-decoration: none;"><img style="text-align: left;margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; display: block; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px; " src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4MyIw6cAX780GDMrONBNPuchPRfF-5-6ch0qBlUesqGPLrj6UDbaa8P97SClMeQKsvPFMgH9JH7CRV3j6xMW01ozJhFN7u51osX0u81wDs7_wZ0TGrh2pYfjlIN9UXsF_Tv3CblbKhZhD/s320/IMG_0852.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5365810830771287394" border="0" /></a><br /></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:arial;">And when I say that they aren't harmless to us, well, that just means they can't poison us, I'm sure I wouldn't want to get bit by one of these guys, especially when I find out they eat lizards</span>!</div>Arid-zona Momhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09036099468588245305noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8236906284497520102.post-42823656068993078202009-07-14T21:43:00.000-07:002010-07-25T18:54:22.503-07:00Boston Reunion Day Six - The Aquarium<div style="text-align: center;">On Day 6 we went to the Boston Aquarium. My mom and Dad took turns telling us how "WE" came to be. They each told us a bit about their lives before they got married and a bit of what it was like after they got married and before us kids came along. My dad doesn't exactly give inspiring talks but it was interesting to hear him speak about the olden days. I won't bore you with the details or to videos of that part of the night but here's a picture. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Lucida Grande';"><br />

Everyone was asked to prepare something to show everyone what kind of talents you have. I am just going by memory at the moment since I don't have the video transferred just yet. If I remember Jaret played his sax, Niah showed us his drawings and some martial arts, Lanesa did a ballet dance. Toby shared his new kids book with us and I don't recall if Marcie showed us a talent or not. I played the piano (not very good I might ad), Iolana danced to Van Halen's "Jump", Dan shared his newest song with us "Trapping the Fly", and I believe Diedra shared one of her guitar songs with us. But, at the moment I don't remember what Star, Dave, Braydon, Ashton, or Corbin did. I'll post an update once I look at the video.</span><br />

And had a blast. Since it was at a lake I didn't get to take many pictures as I was all wet and looking after two kiddos. I think hubby was able to take some video of the events but I haven't done anything with them as of yet. <br />
<div><br />
</div><div>After the lake we all went to a camp to greet my nephew on his return from his pioneer trek. The stake youth all got together, were split into families, given rations a hand cart and off they went. They trekked for three days along paths that were similar to the circumstances and environment that the pioneers had endured all those years ago. The experience is one to remember. I had the opportunity to participate in a pioneer trek when I was in YW. It puts things into perspective for a young adult to realize what others had accomplished to enable us to be where we are today. </div><div><br />
</div><div>After the welcome back ceremony we were treated to a barbecue feast but I'm not so sure it was worth the 1.5 hour wait in line for it. SHEESH! You Tube only allows up to 10 minutes. I don't really want to cut any part of it out. I did post a first version on U Tube that you can see, but if anyone knows of a good and FREE video hosting site similar to You Tube that allows longer than 10 minutes let me know. <div><br /></div><div>In the mean time here's the 1st version of the movie. It's in HD so may take a little longer to load on some machines. The 2nd version includes more video and pictures and as such more songs, believe me its much better, so I'll be looking for another place to put it.<div><br /></div><object width="580" height="360"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/E47GoDb5gek&hl=en_US&fs=1&rel=0&hd=1&border=1"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/E47GoDb5gek&hl=en_US&fs=1&rel=0&hd=1&border=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="580" height="360"></embed></object>></div>Arid-zona Momhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09036099468588245305noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8236906284497520102.post-540934002679823152009-07-10T20:54:00.000-07:002010-02-28T21:41:15.164-08:00Boston Reunion Day Two - Connecticut<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuFTP_Z4KsPZY0QhFQlghV4CSq8hx15eaVcrL04Euiz3_dTJFh9rnQ5kQgp6uXx1s9JcGABRo-JirZmd5S2qAejvjlOqEl-69Ak38o5Szp1txFZIsbptd7ujRKC1asF14_Vf59WjOmSF52/s1600-h/IMG_0720.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuFTP_Z4KsPZY0QhFQlghV4CSq8hx15eaVcrL04Euiz3_dTJFh9rnQ5kQgp6uXx1s9JcGABRo-JirZmd5S2qAejvjlOqEl-69Ak38o5Szp1txFZIsbptd7ujRKC1asF14_Vf59WjOmSF52/s640/IMG_0720.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit;">Friday we took a side trip (while everyone else went to Salem for the day) and visited some friends of Adam and his family in Connecticut. These guys have some nice property I must say. I was also impressed about how much space there seems to be in this area. I've always thought of the east as a very "compressed" place; more people and less space. But seeing this area I stand corrected. We were just south of South Kent CT. It is very beautiful as you can see from the picture, shaded woodlands and such. Very nice indeed. He built the water mill you see in the picture, got it running while we were there. The kids liked seeing them start it up. </span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

He wasn't kidding that it was a small town. Sherman is one of those "don't blink or you'll miss it" towns. We saw the cafe where he used to work and bought some pies from them to take back to Nashua with us. We went by their old house and took a picture or two for his parents to see how the new owners were treating the place. After a brief visit it was time yet again to say goodbye and we headed out for Mike's Ice Cream Parlor. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimc__6v_RQ74qTnFLgd5tSSRCW0gN2OCNGwRpWgW6izhBU3WvWAmGbuYZfsYtTYnTPUaEn61VjMrmffQOyiZA4vRgVTAM5uNa2iP33o0ov_G_gK8P90UGj-g7CVfcXTv_3OiyxHDbRiL6Q/s1600-h/IMG_0748.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimc__6v_RQ74qTnFLgd5tSSRCW0gN2OCNGwRpWgW6izhBU3WvWAmGbuYZfsYtTYnTPUaEn61VjMrmffQOyiZA4vRgVTAM5uNa2iP33o0ov_G_gK8P90UGj-g7CVfcXTv_3OiyxHDbRiL6Q/s400/IMG_0748.JPG" width="400" /></a>Perhaps the next time we visit, we'll get directions from an actual person instead of the GPS. I don't know how long we were looking but the GPS didn't exactly get us to Mike's parlor. Adam had to "feel" his way for a good part of the drive. But, we eventually got there and the kids had some really good ice cream. Dad got to reminisce about his younger years and throughout the whole day the weather was wonderful, especially for it being summer!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1j50yEHj7Gx1yZWhlgDqqywjbLvc2c2m8xwt2nNhJp2AzEkY-4Mu1ifQl2JPE9Rj3v_ifpHE505wRPoOcsIdRlp0kLwo48ro73O-geyf1y1k9Zo5HUfrWM61J3Vt5lUe6uxfk3HQr8dsS/s1600-h/IMG_0749.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1j50yEHj7Gx1yZWhlgDqqywjbLvc2c2m8xwt2nNhJp2AzEkY-4Mu1ifQl2JPE9Rj3v_ifpHE505wRPoOcsIdRlp0kLwo48ro73O-geyf1y1k9Zo5HUfrWM61J3Vt5lUe6uxfk3HQr8dsS/s640/IMG_0749.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">We didn't get a picture of Iolana eating, she ate hers up too fast. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">After Kaylin had enough we all packed back in the Subaru and headed back to Nashua. With most everyday something planned. Since most of the family has never been on the east coast everything was new. We decided to do Boston's Freedom Trail. Only as customary we didn't leave the house until it was nearing afternoon, which meant that we missed the guided tours. <br />

When Toby had first told us we were going to go see the U.S. Constitution I thought he meant the actual Constitution, little did I know he was talking about a ship. I thought that quite appropriate since we were all wearing orange shirts. We had already done quite a bit of walking and we hadn't even started yet. </div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLUUwqKWpMWgjyDeYrUP3qUmekSmJliSvVCOgLjq6LCJHbk_LAugDEUhyphenhyphenmRrylQmSGguwhKfWscNacSKZQpL3Jl9KZvwiS2GjDDsjhCJQCf9Qbi6CIe2bzkwmoEmqI3nMxlrPAVcwKkx7_/s1600-h/IMG_0693.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLUUwqKWpMWgjyDeYrUP3qUmekSmJliSvVCOgLjq6LCJHbk_LAugDEUhyphenhyphenmRrylQmSGguwhKfWscNacSKZQpL3Jl9KZvwiS2GjDDsjhCJQCf9Qbi6CIe2bzkwmoEmqI3nMxlrPAVcwKkx7_/s400/IMG_0693.JPG" width="400" /></a>So we stopped and let the kids chase around all the birds who were mooching off of all the picnickers. And then we ourselves decided to picnic in the park (Boston Common) before we started our Freedom Trail tour. I believe it was about 1300 or so in the afternoon by this time. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsA5z6Yjk0USeyoV_iQ5WlaKXhT4xZIZ53WYT20Nx80weGkmfKx39BgBuRuShaBR3UU8pGV3jM9NMV1MSrlZb9DtPdLFPN3kz73Rf4JcFMPFHNzfA9TSbuVUzU69DMM6HRBRXb459LLVs2/s1600-h/IMG_0698.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsA5z6Yjk0USeyoV_iQ5WlaKXhT4xZIZ53WYT20Nx80weGkmfKx39BgBuRuShaBR3UU8pGV3jM9NMV1MSrlZb9DtPdLFPN3kz73Rf4JcFMPFHNzfA9TSbuVUzU69DMM6HRBRXb459LLVs2/s640/IMG_0698.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This is everyone decided which way the start of the freedom trail is. The Boston Common isn't exactly a small park. We eventually just started at a point we though looked good. Toby and Marcie knew enough of the trail as they had done it before so we ventured off on our own to take the tour.</div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
