Kaylin, Iolana and myself are finally back from a 3 week trip to Idaho. We went to visit my mom, sister and nephew's Braydon and Ashton. Iolana had a blast with her cousins as long as she was in the mood to play swords, pow-pow, or wrestling. Not having a boy around the house it was quite a change of pace trying to keep up with a 4 and 1.5 year old. The weather was hot, even for a Phoenix girl, but we survived.
Kaylin grew up so much in these last three weeks. She's had her first tastes of yummy zucchini, watermelon, banana, apple, and carrot. She has been perfecting her victorious roll from back to front - I have yet to catch her in time to tape it. She's been licked on the head by Pepper, Aunt Starlie's hyper black lab. She's learned that little boys have a very hard time being gentle and quiet but I don't think she minded.
We blessed Kaylin while we were there so at least part of the family would be a part of it. In my sister's ward there is an older man named Bro. Hill who reminds us a lot of our Dad. He stands the same, walks, rests his hand the same, even his white hair and bald spot are similar. Since my Dad was not able to see the blessing we asked Bro Hill to stand in the circle and it would at least feel as if he was there. It's too bad I didn't get a picture of him.
We went to a few places other than college-town Pocatello on our trip. One of which was to Yellow Stone Bear World. It's like a wildlife park with mainly bears in it. You're not allowed to get out of your car or even have your windows down. Honestly wasn't worth the money we spent but Iolana loved the bears. We went through twice to see
if seeing it again would make it worth it...it didn't. They had some kid rides and a petting zoo at the end of the park as well. I'm not so sure Iolana's ready for 6 Flags just yet. One of the rides was a mini elevator drop. She thought the first few drops were fun, after that she started clinging on to anything she rap her arms around screaming for the ride to stop. The attendant stopped the ride short and allowed her to ride something different since she wasn't too fond of the falling sensation. She got to pet Bambi and Feline. I had some video of the whole thing but some how we taped over it. The downfall of having miniDV.
We went to Idaho Falls for a day and went to a place called Blast Off. Its and indoor playground complete with ball pits, jungle gym built for parents too and the land of make-believe. Land of make-believe was the big hit. Iolana didn't know what to do with herself. She was a pink princess with one of those pointy hats and gloves along with a shear jacket. She would carry around at least 5 purses with tea cups, and who know what else in them. Then she would proceed to jump into the ball pit. She didn't want to leave. Since we've been back I spoiled her and picked up a Sleeping Beauty costume, now she'll ask me every night if it's Halloween night so she can wear it!
Some things since we've been back home (we got home on the 5th): Kaylin has found her thumb which we were hoping wouldn't happen. With Iolana she at least limited it to her right hand. Kaylin seems to get along fine with either thumb. She has also had her first taste of the mush we call baby cearl. She seems to like it though I'm not sure why.
