Iolana is definitely a girl in so many ways. Today we painted our fingers and toes with a clear sparkle nail polish. I painted hers, and then she painted mine. She did a good job too! She was about to go ask Dad to hold out his hands so she could paint is nails but luckily she was reminded that painting nails is something that girls do.
Adam thinks that Iolana will turn me into a female yet. I'm beginning to think more and more that this is the reason why I have two girls; to teach me how to be a girl! I can relate to the ladybug character on Disney's "Bug's Life", Francis. Acts like a boy, but because it's a ladybug everyone automatically assumes it's a girl. Then, Francis meets the little girl ants and they bring out his feminine side. I of course am not a guy, but for the vast majority of my life I have stayed of the "boy's side". Even my profession is populated mainly by men! So, having a girl who loves princesses, make-up, dress-up, shoes, and anything else that's sparkles is poofy or pink; and it's hard to stay away from it. Granted I don't think I'll ever carry around an actual purse, especially one that coordinates with my wardrobe, but, you may find me wearing more dresses! Yes, I said the "D" word...but it's ok, it's not bad. I mean, I actually went out a few days ago and bought some nice looking casual shirts and blouses to replace my t-shirts and grubby jeans that I've been wearing since we moved (thanks to mother-in-law for the b-day present). Adam says there's hope for me yet. We'll see what happens and where I'm at in another year or two when Kaylin will be getting to the "princess age".
